Dwight Myers, the rapper known as Heavy D, was laid to rest at the historic Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York, on Friday November 18th at 11am. The influential rapper died suddenly at 44-years-old due to complications from pneumonia.

Rev. Al Sharpton delivered a letter that was from President Obama, that read:

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers,”  [Source]
